Picasso in the making?

This is a couple of months old but I was going through some pictures and thought I should share.

A lot of times when I'm doing laundry Ivy and I will spend time in the craft room together because it's right next to it and Ivy doesn't think I'm ignoring her when I get up to fold the clothes.  We paint, color, play with play-doh, build things or play kitchen and grocery store.

Ivy's favorite craft is probably painting but my Mom recently bought her some oil pastels and she is loving how bright and vivid they are.  I left her in there one day while I was switching clothes from the washer to dryer and she was drawing lines and circles and being very abstract like she normally is.  She yelled out "Mommy look I drew Daddy" so I walked in there to look thinking I'm just going to see some scribbles like normal and we will talk about how the red line is Daddy and the yellow one is Mommy, etc.  But when I walked in she was pointing to a face that she drew.  A blue head with blue circle eyes, a purple nose, and a blue mouth.

I was shocked to say the least. I guess it's not really shocking to see a three year old draw a face but it was the first time that I saw her do it. I'm sure she's done it before at school or at Grammie's house but it was a special moment for me.

Later that evening we were back in the craft room and I noticed her magna-doodle leaning up against the wall with stick people on it. I asked her if she drew them and she said "Yes! That's me and you Mommy!"

This is a direct quote from Ivy: "Mommy you are the big round one and Ivy is the small one with sunglasses."
I asked her if we were at a party because it looked like there was confetti flying around.  She said "No those are just shapes I like."

I just thought it was the cutest thing ever!

Go ahead, show me some love....leave me a comment or thought.

Thanks for stopping by and reading my blog. It started out as a blog to keep my family and friends updated on the happenings in the Ward house while Chris and I raise our daughter Ivy, but it's turned into a little more than that for me. So sit back and enjoy because I'll be sharing all kinds of moments and memories from our life and keeping people as updated as I can on my brother Clifford, while he is deployed to Afghanistan.
While my stories may not always be happy, funny, or inspirational they are real. And it's pretty good therapy for me to write how I feel about things. So please excuse all my typos and run on sentences because I usually type like I talk and I don't stress too much over my grammatical errors. I hope everyone enjoys and keeps reading...oh, and leave me a comment, it makes my day!
