Happy Birthday to my baby brother....

Happy Birthday to my baby brother!

I still remember the night you were born. And despite what you might think, I was really happy!

Mom was pacing the floor and I had no clue what was happening but I knew she wasn't feeling so good.  She was mumbling under her breath about what was taking Dad so long to get home and I was trying to be as good as possible so that I didn't upset her.  When Dad got home I remember him giving me a paper bag (yes the kind from the grocery store) and he told to put some toys in it that I was going to stay at Mama Hancock's for a couple of days.  I slept in the back bedroom, you know the one with the yellow walls, although Mama Hancock and I spent most of the night just talking.  I was really excited because I was getting to stay up late.  We talked about you being born and I told her that I wanted a baby brother.  I knew that if you were a boy your name would be Clifford Lee and if you were a girl I wanted your name to be Elizabeth.  Which would have worked out because if you were a girl you would have been named after Mama Hancock.....Vera Elizabeth.  Just so you know if you ever start acting sassy then I'm gonna call you Elizabeth...ok?

Then the phone rang and Mama Hancock ran down the hallway and I just stood in the door waiting.  She screamed (you know how she does) "WAAAAHOOOOOO!  IT'S A BOY!!!!!!"  And then when she hung up the phone we started dancing. Yes we danced...with no music....so please image that right now - Mama Hancock 25 years younger and me at 5 years old dancing next to the kitchen table in our PJ's.

I was given a  blue pin that said "It's A Boy!"  I wore it to school everyday for a week.

I love you Cliffy Biffy!!!!!!

Go ahead, show me some love....leave me a comment or thought.

Thanks for stopping by and reading my blog. It started out as a blog to keep my family and friends updated on the happenings in the Ward house while Chris and I raise our daughter Ivy, but it's turned into a little more than that for me. So sit back and enjoy because I'll be sharing all kinds of moments and memories from our life and keeping people as updated as I can on my brother Clifford, while he is deployed to Afghanistan.
While my stories may not always be happy, funny, or inspirational they are real. And it's pretty good therapy for me to write how I feel about things. So please excuse all my typos and run on sentences because I usually type like I talk and I don't stress too much over my grammatical errors. I hope everyone enjoys and keeps reading...oh, and leave me a comment, it makes my day!
