The Roar of Love

Just wanted to post some quick pictures from Ivy's ballet performance back in late March. She was a Cherub in the Roar of Love. I never thought I would sign Ivy up for ballet because I didn't really think she had the personality of a ballet dancer....but she specifically asked for it so I signed her up. She's had a lot of fun with it and I couldn't be prouder.

I danced in the Roar of Love myself for several years and I've never actually watched the show live, because I was always in it. It was really neat to watch everything from a different perspective. I was surprised at how much I remembered about it too. I would lean over to Chris some during the performance and say something like "Oh this is going to be good!" because I knew what moves were coming next. When I was dancer I never thought about how young I was but watching it now it blows my mind how young some of the girls (and guys) are up there dancing such big roles.

Ivy's ballet teacher was the "White Witch" which is the lead role and she was amazing. Ivy took the approach that being the witch was kind of gross...I mean lets face it, she wants to be a princess and doesn't understand why anyone would want to be a witch. So I simply explained to her that being the witch didn't make her teacher mean it just meant that she was the best dancer. By the time we reached the performance day Ivy had decided that she wanted to be the witch because that meant she could dance really good and she would get to wear "Sammy the Snake" on her head.  I've also caught her doing her own interpretation of the other parts in the show when she didn't know I was looking.

These are some pictures of her in her costume at dress rehearsal.

Here are some pictures from the actual dress rehearsal since we weren't allowed to take photos during the performance.

And there is Ivy waving at us.  I must add that she did this during the actual show too.  It was so funny.
The day of the show Ivy got to wear a little bit of make up and she was so excited! I was trying to put it on her but she was determined to do it herself so when I finally let go and gave her the powder brush she had a lot of fun.

I'm very excited that she has said she wants to take ballet again next year! Hopefully she'll like it just as much as she does right now.

Go ahead, show me some love....leave me a comment or thought.

Thanks for stopping by and reading my blog. It started out as a blog to keep my family and friends updated on the happenings in the Ward house while Chris and I raise our daughter Ivy, but it's turned into a little more than that for me. So sit back and enjoy because I'll be sharing all kinds of moments and memories from our life and keeping people as updated as I can on my brother Clifford, while he is deployed to Afghanistan.
While my stories may not always be happy, funny, or inspirational they are real. And it's pretty good therapy for me to write how I feel about things. So please excuse all my typos and run on sentences because I usually type like I talk and I don't stress too much over my grammatical errors. I hope everyone enjoys and keeps reading...oh, and leave me a comment, it makes my day!
