No Tricks, Just Treats
Every year Ivy helps her Daddy carve a pumpkin, well not the first year because she was only 10 days old. But the second year after she turned 1 she had lots of fun trying to eat all of the goopy insides that we pulled out. Last year she just stared at it and acted like we were crazy when we asked if she wanted to help. This year she tried to help a little but after a few minutes she decided that she would just cheer her Daddy on from a chair.

Return of the Lou Ferrigno hair because she got tired of the pigtails. |
She learned how to say Jack-O-Lantern this year and she was quite proud of herself and it was quite impressive to hear her say it. When Chris asked her if she was ready to carve the pumpkin she said "No Daddy, It's a Jack-O-Lantern. OK!"

I love how Ivy is peaking in the pumpkin, like "Whoa!" and I love the goofy faces that her and her Daddy made at the same time. |

And I promise Chris was just cleaning the knife off here even though it looks like he was about to go "Emo" on himself. |
Final product - coolest Jack-O-Lantern on the block if you ask me.
When it was time to get Ivy ready for trick or treating she was beside herself with excitement. She wanted to be Jesse from Toy Story but I never bought a costume because all I could find was a $20 outfit that looked like a plastic trash bag shaped to fit a human of much larger size than Ivy. I just couldn't bring myself to spend $20 on something that was gonna look like a saggy trash bag and make me nauseated because of it's plastic smell. The other alternative was to visit the Disney store online and spend $100 on a real Jesse outfit - no thank you. So as I was searching for a cowgirl looking toddler shirt to go with some jeans and her pink cowgirl boots Ivy changed her mind decided she wanted to be Cinderella. Score one for Mommy - we already had the Cinderella dress up outfit. We went out and picked up a few accessories and she was good to go.
We had my Dad and Deb come over so they could see her trick or treat and we let Debra a.k.a. Nana Hannah give Ivy some Cinderella hair. I thought Ivy might burst she was so excited.
She was seriously giddy with laughter and could barely sit still long enough for Debra to curl her hair. Of course this was the first time anything other than a brush or hair dryer had come near her hair and the curling iron was on the lowest setting possible and no hair products were used (because I don't own any). But the poor girl is blessed with my hair so her Cinderella curls lasted all of about 30 seconds.

Ivy went up to our porch when we said it was time to go trick or treating and grabbed a handful of our candy and baited her bag...silly girl. And the next pictures crack me up because three of her four grandparents are following her and each of them is holding a different piece of her costume.
Aren't they so cute? We even got Paw Paw to say "Bibbity Bobbity Boo!" a few times. Oh, and I ended up holding the slippers by the end of the night. Which I was kinda glad because Ivy stepping out of them and going "I lost a slipper Mommy! Just like Cinderella!" was cute the first two times but not so much the fifteenth time.

And of course we went to get Mea and Ivy told me at least fifty times that Mia was Minnie Mouse and she was Cinderella...just in case I got confused.
These girls had a blast going around together and it was such a treat to watch them.
I hope everyone had a safe and fun Halloween!
