The Back Porch

As most of you know we moved back in April.  We love our house but something about walking out our back door was depressing.  At least it was depressing to me.  We have a nice flat backyard for Ivy and P to run in with a pretty brick retaining wall but there was a plain blank concrete slab for a back porch.  It felt like it was 150 degrees when you opened the back door.  Seriously, it was nauseating.  I know it gets hot down here but it just felt ridiculous that we couldn't enjoy our back yard.  So......in the Marti and Chris fashion we decided it needed to be screened in and called our builder Brian.  But of course Chris can't just do things simply...it has to be the best and it has to be functional.  The good news was that he could do it for us at cost since he could still write it off towards his interest on the house.   So we had the slab screened in and we poured more slab.  Half of the extra slab is covered but not screened and the other half is uncovered.  It's very nice because we love to grill and we can still grill if it's raining out.  Oh, and it feels normal when we walk outside now and not like we are stepping into an oven.  We enjoy it very much!

Here are some pictures of Ivy enjoying her first nectarine shortly after the porch was built after her nap one Saturday.

She loved it, can you tell?

And of course she had to tease poor P-man some.

Go ahead, show me some love....leave me a comment or thought.

Thanks for stopping by and reading my blog. It started out as a blog to keep my family and friends updated on the happenings in the Ward house while Chris and I raise our daughter Ivy, but it's turned into a little more than that for me. So sit back and enjoy because I'll be sharing all kinds of moments and memories from our life and keeping people as updated as I can on my brother Clifford, while he is deployed to Afghanistan.
While my stories may not always be happy, funny, or inspirational they are real. And it's pretty good therapy for me to write how I feel about things. So please excuse all my typos and run on sentences because I usually type like I talk and I don't stress too much over my grammatical errors. I hope everyone enjoys and keeps reading...oh, and leave me a comment, it makes my day!
