Friday Flashback....Cheryl and Patrick

Five years ago today two of my sweet friends got married.

I met Cheryl in college and we instantly clicked.  We had lots of fun together and got into our share of trouble.  I have many great memories of going to parties at JJ's house or Taco Mac or whatever the name of that crazy Mexican restaurant was right next to our dorm with Cheryl.  I'm not gonna go into all the stuff we did because I would probably embarrass her and I know she could embarrass me...so I'll keep the memories to myself.  We only spent two years together at college but we have remained close even though we don't get to talk to each other a lot and she lives in Ohio now.

I remember trying to book a flight to Ohio a few weeks before her wedding and it was crazy expensive but I had to go.  There was no way I was letting one of my best friends get married without me being there.  I finally got a flight that only had one connection and I was so relieved.  Then the day before I was suppose to leave the flight got canceled.  I freaked!  I got on the phone with a lady and she found me another flight but it left at 5 AM and I told her there was no way on earth I would be able to get myself out of bed and in my car to drive to Columbia that early in the morning.  So after spending what felt like an eternity on hold she found me a flight that left at 9 AM.  Praise the Lord!

It was a great weekend!  I got to meet Mandy's future husband Jeremy in the Cincinnati airport and then I got to hang out with a bunch of friends from college that I hadn't seen since I left the big city of Carrollton.  I was a little nervous though because Cheryl and Patrick had asked me do a reading during the wedding.  And since I was raised Baptist and in the South, I was scared to death of getting up in front of people I didn't know and doing a reading at a Catholic church up North.  Just the week before the wedding I was on the phone with Cheryl and she said to me..."Marti, I don't remember you sounding so country."  Geez!  Way to calm my nerves Cheryl!  So I messed around all weekend and talked in an overly country voice and then when it came time for me to do the reading I wanted to giggle but I made it through it.

The reception was amazing!  I'll just tell you that Catholics know how to throw a party!

This picture makes me smile because it's some of my favorite people.  From Left: Patrick, Cheryl, Mandy, Tiffani, and JJ giving a toast.

This picture makes me sad...see all those crumpled up napkins?  I can't tell you how many hours were spent folding them perfectly and tying them with brown and teal ribbon and placing a leaf just right under the ribbon.  I don't know if I would call Cheryl a bridezilla but I can tell you that all of her friends were scared, very scared while we spent most of the night before the wedding doing this.

And Cheryl and Patrick now have a beautiful son...Liam Michael Sheehan.

Marti you are too sweet! What a great anniversary present. If I can figure out how to print it, it's going in the scrapbook :) I can't believe that it was five years ago when we got married...has it been that long since I've seen you? That is ridiculous!!! We have got to get together soon. Miss you tons!!! Love, Cheryl

Marti, Thank you for sharing your memories and observations, and for putting the pics to good use. You made the day vivid for us again, and what a great day it is!

Thanks for stopping by and reading my blog. It started out as a blog to keep my family and friends updated on the happenings in the Ward house while Chris and I raise our daughter Ivy, but it's turned into a little more than that for me. So sit back and enjoy because I'll be sharing all kinds of moments and memories from our life and keeping people as updated as I can on my brother Clifford, while he is deployed to Afghanistan.
While my stories may not always be happy, funny, or inspirational they are real. And it's pretty good therapy for me to write how I feel about things. So please excuse all my typos and run on sentences because I usually type like I talk and I don't stress too much over my grammatical errors. I hope everyone enjoys and keeps reading...oh, and leave me a comment, it makes my day!
