Friday Flashback....First zoo trip

I was really struggling with what I was going to write about today on my flashback but then I was inspired by my friend Tanner's blog (check it out, she is a wonderful photographer as well).  She took her little girl (who is exactly 1 year younger than Ivy) to the zoo a few weeks ago and just posted the greatest pictures.  It reminded me of Ivy's first trip to the zoo and I just wanted to share some of my favorites...from the 1st trip and the 2nd trip.

For the first trip we were in Jacksonville for vacation and decided to go to the zoo.  Ivy was 11 months old and we had never taken her before.  I practically bathed her in sunscreen and put on the cutest little dress I could find.  We were really excited to take her because she loved her picture books of animals.  She was an angel all day for us but didn't seem much interested in anything at the zoo so we were kinda bummed about it.  She did seem to like the monkeys a little bit because they were jumping around so much and she enjoyed the ride on the train....but we didn't get much of a reaction out her with anything else.

Hangin' out with the monkeys and riding the train with Daddy.

We were about to leave the zoo and we realized that we hadn't seen the giraffes.  We strolled over there and I think they had 3 or 4 adult giraffes and a baby that was just a few months old.  I picked Ivy up out of the stroller and I wasn't expecting much from her at this point.  But she absolutely freaked out!  She almost jumped out of my arms trying to reach for that giraffe.  At one point I thought the giraffe was gonna stick his tounge up and lick her until he realized we didn't have any food for him.  It made the whole day worth it!  I'm so glad we waited to do that last.  To this day she is still in love with giraffes (with dolphins running a close second).

For the second trip we went to the Asheboro zoo in North Carolina. She was much more into it this time and had a blast. I bought her the cutest giraffe pants for the occasion (thank goodness they were still her favorite). We had a blast! She was also in love with the monkeys, elephants, and zebras.

Maybe since the weather is cooling down we'll get to go to the Columbia Zoo soon.

Happy Friday!

Go ahead, show me some love....leave me a comment or thought.

Thanks for stopping by and reading my blog. It started out as a blog to keep my family and friends updated on the happenings in the Ward house while Chris and I raise our daughter Ivy, but it's turned into a little more than that for me. So sit back and enjoy because I'll be sharing all kinds of moments and memories from our life and keeping people as updated as I can on my brother Clifford, while he is deployed to Afghanistan.
While my stories may not always be happy, funny, or inspirational they are real. And it's pretty good therapy for me to write how I feel about things. So please excuse all my typos and run on sentences because I usually type like I talk and I don't stress too much over my grammatical errors. I hope everyone enjoys and keeps reading...oh, and leave me a comment, it makes my day!
