The beginning...

In 2011 I want to renew myself.  Evaluate what it is that I need and want, simplify my life and my mind.  A lot good things happened in 2010 and then there was that one thing that was bad.  But I won't dwell on that right now.   I'll save my resolutions and year in review for another time.  Oh, and for those of you panicking because I haven't done a post on our Christmas festivities...calm down, it will be coming shortly.

Today we celebrated.  We celebrated the new year, a new beginning, a blank page.  It was a simple celebration.  Debbie cooked some collard greens, black eye peas, and corn bread.   Chris grilled some pork chops.  Ivy and I contributed to the feast by eating it.  It was the traditional New Years feast...at least for us southerners.  It was very, very simple and very, very delicious.

And as shocked as I was...Ivy approved. She ate all of the pork chop that I cut up for her and most of her black eye peas (it's amazing what a little bit of bribery with a piece of cornbread will do). She didn't like the collard greens (not that I can blame her...it took me 28 years to like them). But she did try them, just didn't swallow them. She gagged, I'll spare you the rest of details.

I hope you and yours had a wonderful New Year as well and best of luck in 2011.

Thanks for stopping by and reading my blog. It started out as a blog to keep my family and friends updated on the happenings in the Ward house while Chris and I raise our daughter Ivy, but it's turned into a little more than that for me. So sit back and enjoy because I'll be sharing all kinds of moments and memories from our life and keeping people as updated as I can on my brother Clifford, while he is deployed to Afghanistan.
While my stories may not always be happy, funny, or inspirational they are real. And it's pretty good therapy for me to write how I feel about things. So please excuse all my typos and run on sentences because I usually type like I talk and I don't stress too much over my grammatical errors. I hope everyone enjoys and keeps reading...oh, and leave me a comment, it makes my day!
