Some more "May Happenings"...

...because I just can't seem to get caught up! But I'm close!

Mother's Day Tea

Ivy has been going to Open Door Preschool and it's wonderful! They had a Mother's Day Tea and they sent each kid home to do a project with the Mom's. We all had to make matching hats for the tea party! It was the cutest thing not to mention a fun project with Ivy. Now you know me...I love hats and I love crafts! So Ivy and I were in heaven and spent lots of time in our craft room that week. Pipe cleaners and pom poms, oh the possibilities! We kept it simple though, after all we were suppose to do it together so we kept it on the 2 year old level.

Acting a little shy at first about putting on a hat.

But she's her Mama's girl and loved it!

She looks like a little Southern Belle striking that pose.

Reading to us with her friend Anna.

Bath Time in the Kitchen
When we first moved in to our house the builder still had some touch ups to do and things were in a mess for a while. Ivy's bathroom was a wreck. I don't know what those guy did when they painted it but it just looked horrible. For over a month we had them come back and redo stuff in there but they just couldn't seem to get it right. We finally gave up and said we would do it ourselves. So now I have Ivy's bathroom usable but not really decorated. But until we got to that point we had to use the kitchen sink because the master bathtub is too high for us to reach over and I didn't have anything in the downstairs tub. Our kitchen sink is huge...I love it! So this is how we did it. Go ahead and laugh but I know you love these pictures....
Trying to blow some bubbles at Mama

Mama showin' her how it's done...

...bulls eye!

Getting her hair washed...for some reason she found this fun in the sink and giggled the whole time but hates it in the bathtub and screams like I'm trying to drown her.

This picture kind of melts my heart a little bit. While she's getting the water out of eyes she just has that scrunched up face look that a new born has in those first pictures after being born. And I just can't believe that my baby is 2 1/2!

Big Girl

We also turned a major corner in potty training in May. Ivy all of sudden decided that she could do it. And she is so proud of herself! We have to call pull ups "panties" because if I call them pull ups I get a very quick response of "No Mommy! Der (they're) panties!" She gets M&M's if she goes #1 or #2. We started out giving her 4 and now we are down to 2 if she gets to pick which 2 colors. And she's only allowed to have them if her "panties" aren't already wet before she goes. We aren't completely there yet but we're close. We've also tried "Big Girl Panties" some but that ususally doesn't last too long. We had been trying to do potty training for a while and finally took the approach that she'll do it when she is ready, then one random day my Mom saw "that look" on her face (you know the one I'm talking about) and ran her to the potty...and TA DA! She went #2 and Mom said she was so excited and kept saying "I DID IT!" Now we had told her that if she went in the potty that we would take her to get a "Woody" doll from Toy Story and boy did she remind us of that promise. We took her that night after we both got home from work to let her pick it out. But she picked out "Jesse" instead. Since then she has earned a "Woody" and a "Buzz Lightyear" and if she doesn't have a good day one of them or two of them has to go away. It was kind of expensive but it worked and the less diapers we buy the better!

My Big Girl.

Jesse and Woody go too.

We always flush.

Here was the first try in "Big Girl Panties"

Also in May we had our first "big" accident. We had gone over to the old house to do some cleaning and Ivy decided that it would be a good idea to run in the driveway. Well lets just say the driveway won that battle. We had an extremely bloody knee and a chipped tooth. We couldn't stand that she chipped a tooth but these things happen. I rushed her over to a neighbors house to get her knee cleaned up and a band aid and a popsicle made everything better. The fact that the popsicle didn't bother her teeth really made me feel better about the whole situation. So Ivy had her first trip to the dentist but more on that later. Below is a picture of the chipped tooth but it's really not that bad.

Thanks for stopping by and reading my blog. It started out as a blog to keep my family and friends updated on the happenings in the Ward house while Chris and I raise our daughter Ivy, but it's turned into a little more than that for me. So sit back and enjoy because I'll be sharing all kinds of moments and memories from our life and keeping people as updated as I can on my brother Clifford, while he is deployed to Afghanistan.
While my stories may not always be happy, funny, or inspirational they are real. And it's pretty good therapy for me to write how I feel about things. So please excuse all my typos and run on sentences because I usually type like I talk and I don't stress too much over my grammatical errors. I hope everyone enjoys and keeps reading...oh, and leave me a comment, it makes my day!
