2 firsts and 1 second...in other words "A Catch Up Post"
It's gonna be long one...so brace yourself. The 1st first is (drum roll) The first haircut....
I know, I know...she doesn't hardly have any hair but I finally lost the battle. Well not so much lost the battle but "gave in."
Chris has been saying that Ivy needed a hair cut for over a year now but I just couldn't bring myself to do it. I mean my baby girl didn't have very much hair to begin with...the last thing I wanted to do was cut it.
I had all these thoughts about braiding her hair and putting in cute pigtails and pony tails in it but they were pitiful looking and the ends of her hair really were starting to look scraggly. It just didn't seem to be growing length wise...just crazy-wise. Chris was even starting to say that her hair looked like Lou Ferrigno's....I don't think so.

Okay....maybe a little.
But I gave in and we took her for her first haircut. I don't know if you can even call it a haircut really. I was so distraught over it I only let Debra clip about half an inch off the bottom to even things out. Ivy had a blast though. She spent time playing with Paw Paw until her Daddy could get there for the big moment.

And then Ivy was so thrilled that she got to sit in the chair like such a big girl and of course Nana Hannah was thrilled to cut her hair.

And then when it was over she was still cute as ever.

And then Daddy got his hair cut too...isn't he cute?
And while Daddy got his hair cut Ivy got more play time with Paw Paw, Mama Hancock, and her new Dora hairstyling toy that Nana Hannah got to keep at her salon.

And when we all left the salon together that evening Debra said "Ivy do you like your haircut?" And Ivy responded with a very enthusiastic "Yes I do! Thank you Nana Hannah!" Needless to say it made Debra's night.
Now on to the second first....The first teeth cleaning...
I really didn't think this was gonna go well but it did. We all remember the first trip to the dentist because of the chipped tooth. But this was for her first cleaning so of course I had to take the camera to document the whole thing. Things went very well...our hygienist Stephanie gave Ivy her own mask and let her help hold the toothpaste while she cleaned my teeth.

When it was Ivy's turn I thought we would have a lot of trouble convincing her to get in the chair to have her teeth cleaned but she surprised us and climbed right up in that chair and was excited to get her some sunglasses (I think she may be able to channel Sir Elton John in them). She was laying back and had her mouth open just as wide as it would go before Stephanie could even get ready.

Stephanie was really great with Ivy. She let her wear a special ring that held her toothpaste and Ivy kept her mouth open the whole time. She even let Dr. Durst look at her teeth without a problem. She has been saying all week that she was going to the Dentist's house to see Dr. Durst (although it sounded more like Dr. Doost).

Oh, and it kinda looks like Lou Ferrigno came back for a visit with Ivy's hair in the last picture but it's just because she pulled her pigtails out. But guess where we headed next, that's right, Deb's hair salon...on to the 1st second (am I confusing enough).
Have I mentioned how lucky I am to have a step-mom who cuts hair...well I am! Free hair cuts...Score! We hadn't planned on getting Ivy's hair cut again but Chris needed a hair cut and we decided to meet him at the salon. We had a while to wait before he got there and Debra didn't have any customers. So I got a trim and a color and then when we still had more time we sat Ivy back up in the chair and gave her a cute little bob style with bangs.

And in true Ivy fashion...she sang the entire time.

Seriously, she is ALWAYS singing...real songs and made up songs. And...she really gets into it.
Such a goofball!
And she even got in on the clean up action too...

Whew! Almost caught up...Ivy's 3rd birthday post soon!

such a cutie! Addison enjoyed looking at the pics of Ivy too!
